2020 Marriage Challenge Day 16

Day 16

Day 16: Love Blesses

We are better together. That characteristic should define every marriage. If my life could have been better alone, I should have never gotten married. But the reality is that I am much better with Jenny than without her. As I said in Friends, Partners & Lovers, our presence in each other's lives multiplies our strengths and divides our weaknesses. Marriage strengthens our strengths and weakens our weaknesses. One byproduct of this is margin. God's love for us and our love for each other creates a reservoir of love which we can pass on to others. We want our marriage to bless others. It can't be all about us. Clearly our children and extended family should benefit from the love Jenny and I have for each other. But we desire for the benefits to flow beyond our family. We hope to create a home where others find refuge and strength. We desire to set an example so that others know love is possible. We want to use the resources we have been given to assist others through tough times.Love blesses. It doesn't just bless the husband and wife. Instead, it should have a ripple effect into neighbors, friends, and communities. Marriage is bigger than just you. Love each other well so that your love can bless those around you.     Application: Read the article Why Your Family Tree Matters. Discuss with your spouse what kind of family tree you desire to create. Talk with your spouse and consider one way you can assist another person or couple without them really knowing about it. Pay someone's bill. Send them a gift anonymously. Do something that blesses someone else.  For more, see:Let God Guide Your MarriageWhy Men Lose Faith
