Day 22: Love Rests

Life is exhausting. We currently live at a pace that seems unsustainable. Yet no one honestly believes that next year is going to be slower than this year. We live at a more pressing speed of change than has ever been experienced and it's only going to get faster. Humanity stands in desperate need of rest.Love can provide just that. When we love and are loved, it can save us from some of the exhausting aspects of our day. We don't have to seek identity or satisfaction from work or money or power. We don't have to chase the status symbols that others around us may be seeking. We can rest in the love we have for each other.Also, because we value each other, love will require us to break away from the 24/7 pace and to simply be with one another. It will force us to vacation, to turn the cell phone off, to ignore the work email, and to enjoy our relationship with our spouse. When love is present, we live differently. We aren't lazy.
