2020 Marriage Challenge Day 28

Day 28

Day 28: Love Endures

This is my second year to do the #28DayMarriageChallenge and there is a pattern that occurs. About midway through the month, people slowly stop opening the email. There is a slow drop off from February 15 until today. While 75% of the people who sign up actually start the marriage challenge, only about 50% finish it. (Yes, I can see if you open the email or not. Isn't technology great?)For some, maybe the content isn't what they hoped for. For others, their relationship is in a tough spot so the ideas are too challenging. But for the vast majority of people who stop, they just simply lose the discipline of doing the work. That's okay with an email string; it's not okay in marriage.True love has a lasting quality. It doesn't give up. It doesn't run. It refuses to avoid. True love endures. Even when it's tough. Even when it would be easier in the moment to go another direction. Love refuses to let go. My prayer for you is that you would have a dogged-determinism to love your spouse no matter what comes your way. I pray that the two of you would commit to each other to love one another well, get the help that you need to flourish, and enjoy a life-long love affair with one another for however long God allows you to live. Love endures.                  Application: Take some time and reflect on some of the challenges you have overcome as a couple.
