Day 7: Love Laughs

Tension builds until there is a sudden climactic release. It's true in sex and it's true in laughter. One of the great stress relievers that love brings is the gift of laughter. Love laughs. While personalities differ, laughter should be a basic component of every loving relationship. When laughter is absent, it's a sign that something is wrong. It might leave in a particularly stressful season of sickness or suffering, but for the most part, laughter should characterize marriage. We should seek humor because of the relief it brings. Some of the times in which Jenny and I laugh the most are the times of high stress. We need the release so we look for humor, seek the ironic, and intentionally point out funny things to one another. When laughter is absent, it is often a sign that trust has diminished. Laughter is a sign we have let down our guard. That only occurs in a marriage when we feel safe with our partner. Few things build safety like non-sexual touch. Increase your touch and your laughter will likely increase. Increase your laughter and your sex life will likely improve.Love laughs.      Application: Watch this brief video and use it as a conversation piece between you and your spouse.
