Day 11, 28 Day Marriage Challenge 2022

Day 11 of the 28-Day Marriage Challenge

Day 11: Mourn Well, Love Well

Denial won't cut it. We are fallen people who live in a fallen world. Every marriage will have struggles. We think that if we deny the struggles our marriage will be better. Jesus shows us that when we lean into the struggles, life (and marriage) will be better. In Happily, I write, "We cannot truly love well unless we mourn well." (pg. 57) It's as we recognize our own failures, the weaknesses of our spouse, and the broken nature of marriage that we can truly begin to appreciate the good aspects of ourselves, our spouse, and our marriage. If we don't admit the struggles, we can't appreciate the strengths.  Application: Without excusing bad behavior, consider weaknesses you have which your spouse has to endure. Pray a prayer of thanksgiving that they have chosen to love you despite your struggles.  For more, see:You Don't Know How Bad You Are Until You're MarriedHow Great Couples Handle Failure
