Day 19: We Need Mercy

No matter how much we love one another, we can't always be on the same page. At times, we are not moving in the right direction. Like two large landmasses moving against each other, friction is created. If we don't find something to ease the tension, an earthquake will occur. In Happily, I write, "Mercy destroys any struggle for power." (pg. 119) When we are tempted to control our spouse, mercy causes us to make different choices. Rather than forcing our will or exploiting our "rightness" about a situation, we show compassion, kindness, and grace. In marriage, we stand in continual need of receiving and giving mercy. Application: Identify a way you are fighting for power in your relationship.
