Day 25 of the 28-Day Marriage Challenge

Day 25: Make Peace

Everyone knows that a good marriage is a peaceful marriage. It's not tranquil all the time, but more times than not, the relationship is at peace. What is misunderstood is how that peace is experienced. In Happily, I write, "Peace-making, not peace-receiving, makes a marriage last." (pg. 149) Too often we feel passive regarding the state of our relationship. We don't understand how much we control if things feel settled or not. The problem is that we think peace is received when actually it is made.Peace-making requires conversation, honesty, truth, listening, time, and effort. For many, making peace feels too risky. But it's not. It's always worth the effort to make peace.  Application: Identify one area where you don't feel at peace in your relationship. Start working toward a workable solution. For more, see:Why Some Relationships Succeed and Others FailThe Easy Road to a Bad Marriage
